My Partner’s Name Is Dr. Ben Mack

Every since we started our book on Profitable Propaganda, I’ve been referring to my partner as Dr. Ben Mack.

Dr. Mack received accredidation from Success University but does not always use the prefix as his professional name… but I always refer to him as Dr. Ben Mack.

Here’s a clip from from Dr. Edward Bernays on the David Letterman show that explain it clearly

Be “The Author Who Cares” to Set Yourself Apart in Your Book Marketing

Roger Parker asked me to speak to his private group of guerrilla marketers about book marketing and self promotion using social media.

I’ve been a fan of Jay Conrad Levinson and member of the Guerrilla Marketing Association, but I wondered about doing this as publicity. After all, there wasn’t a link I could share and promote the call to my mailing list or social media friends.

Roger is a friend, so of course I said yes and thought of it as a favor for someone that may connect me with resources later. Following the Law or Reciprocity I knew that I did not need to track this to immediate sales, I give where I can and know it wilil pay of in the long run.

I got more than I bargained for.

Roger did an excellent job on the interview and helped bring out some vital information for his group. Then he blogged about one tip I gave him about using Amazon in a new way. I linked back to that and tagged Roger’s site on social media.

I have been doing several interviews a day for my new book Twitter Revolution, so I’ve not been working the online promotion for book marketing as much. But today, I had a moment to search on my name (I recommend this for all authors in my free course at http://BookMarketingStrategy.com).

#1 is still my named site. #2 out of 30,000+ links was Roger Parker’s Blog

Why Should Anyone Read Your Book? Book Marketing With a Purpose

Most authors tell me they wrote their book “becaucse people need this information”

They miss one important point.

Most of us do not wake up in the morning, worry about a problem and think “maybe I’l read a book”

Ephren Taylor gets it

I’ve been working with Ephren over the past few months. His book Creating Success from the Inside Out is a best seller and he’s received a lot of media coverage, but this is not the objective for Ephren

Ephren stated a company at 12, became a millionaire at 16 and retried as a multi millionare at 19, so he’s not trying to ‘make it rich’ now. I find that most successful authors, whether you have money or not, are writing books as part of a broader mission.

It took about 7 minutes talking to Ephren to discover how his mission will change lives, improve community and make a high rate of return for investors (imagine, doing good work and making a profit.. WOW).

I was so impressed with Ephren, that I insistent he share his story with authors and entrepreneurs on a webinar.

Join us Wednesday August 6th (click here for details). Ephren will give you a free copy of his best selling book, share his story and his passion and tell you how you can get invovled.

The is nothing for sale on this call. Ephren does not have a success course, more books and tapes, or seminar for you to attend.

You may want to follow what Ephren suggests, or you may just learn about some incredably powerful book marketing. Either way, I invite you to take a look at Ephren Taylor and take the free book (It’s a good read)

Media Moves Faster to Promote Authors Who Know How To Connect Online

My PhotoI just read Guy Kawasaki’s post:

How to Change the World: The Wall Street Journal Lesson

Great lesson for authors who want to get media coverage for their books.

You’ve probably taken a class, or listened to a teleseminar where you are told “how the media works”

Guy sets us straight, talks about how he learned something new.. and offers suggestions for reaching out to media today.

Before you hire a PR firm or agent to get you media coverage, make sure you use the online tools we’ve been talking about here. Post to your own blog, interact on other blogs and read the blogs of the media outlets you hope to connect with.

Then, make sure the professionals you hire know to do the same.

Have you received media coverage from your social media connections and blogging? Post a comment here and share your story.
