I’m teaching a group of authors to market themselves on line and create their own best seller book.
We have a big opportunity for authors to network, so I sent them an email with a bribe. Since it has my best tips for building your network of best selling authors, I thought I’d share it here.

The secret of selling books is to reach readers.
And there is one thing we know readers do…
They read the books of other authors.
I’ve met thousands of authors. Each and every one of them want more readers. Successful authors have learned this simple fact:
READERS READ BOOKS FROM MORE THAN ONE AUTHOR!
You may not have a million readers yet. You may still be working on you book, but START NOW to network with other authors and you’ll be exposed to millions of readers before you publish.
How?
Remember, every author wants more readers. They all LOVE to hear that you bought, read, and shared their books.
When you see a new book from an author you want to connect with try this.
1. Order a copy of the book
2. Review the book on Amazon, your blog, or social media
3. Find their web site, blog, social media profile and drop them a note
WARNING: Don’t lead with "I bought your book, please buy mine" .. You’ll look like a salesman. Instead, write a complimentary note, thank them.
Here’s the big SECRET: Other authors are JUST LIKE YOU.. they read their reviews, comments on their blog, and the ALWAYS are glad to hear from a reader.
You never have to beg them to help you.. they KNOW it’s polite to reciprocate.
Will this always work?
Most of the time. And so much so that I"m SHOCKED that more authors don’t do this.

I’m reading posts from New York Times Best selling author Ramit Sethi on his blog named after the book.
Like many modern authors with a tech background, he’s naturally doing many of the techniques I teach.
I could list them here (I have in other posts) but today, I think it’s best to say “Go watch this guy, model what he does and BE RICH”
I read best selling author David Meerman Scott’s excellent blog because he not only agrees with what I teach authors about creating a best seller campaign.. but he does it better than just about any author.
Today he posted and excellent post and inspired me to watch an hour long presentation video and read more on the interviews he did with other best selling authors like Seth Godin.
My favorite concept is one we’re using more and more in out best seller book marketing campaigns.. that is giving away great content to attract readers. David went to one of my all time favorite authors, Tom Peters and got two excellent examples of blogging to book writing.
You can easily see how Peter’s latest book, BIG comes from 163 blog posts that were posted as free content on the web.. but you might not have known that the huge hit of 1982 was developed in much the same way.
Tom Peters is a prolific author and very successful. David Meerman Scott is on his way to being just as successful. Watch this video and see how you can model what they have done in your own book marketing and promotion
