I was cleaning up a blog post comment list. The usual deletions, the off topic sales pitch and of course the one line messages that say “I don’t know if I agree” to pretend that they had read the post.
Then I saw this:
The comment was on a post about “Cheesy Joke Day” where I solicited jokes from Twitter followers and got comments with some of the cheesiest jokes possible and a lot of conversation on Twitter… so we can be pretty certain that the above quote is not from someone that read the post.
However, I had to share the comment here… and wonder. “How much does this writer get paid?”
I’m not sure if I’d want this kind of style for any legitimate project, but maybe I could get him to write thank you notes? 🙂
If anyone tells you they have a team who can “be you on social media” please remember this is the best I’ve seen and say “no one but me gets to be me”
Ohh…. it's just soooooooo tempting to be a real smart-&%$ and say, “Very nice post. Keep up the great work.” 😉
I get these kinds of stupid comments all the time. Last year I had a bunch of them from Russia (like 2 a day). This year, they all seem to be coming from sites that say things like “get rich quick”, etc. Lately, I seem to be getting a bunch that say dumb things like “Internet marketing takes a lot of time.” or “Book promotion isn't that easy.” At least now they're TRYING to sound like they are responding to my posts!
I knew these were SPAM, but it had never crossed my mind that someone else might be PAYING them to plop these dumb remakrs on random sites. Given that track-backs increase SEO, I guess that it totally plausible. But geez loweez, do they really think this strategy will actually land them on page 1 of Google? And even if it does, I can hardly imagine they would have the business acumen and customer service to offer anything of value to anyone…
After all, they couldn't even think of a good comment.
you nailed it.
They are feeding the search engines without regard to the people. .. not reading the posts means they are missing out on the people.. the best part 🙂
