To make a living from your book, you need to have readers… and they need to buy your book
Sounds simple enough.. but most authors struggle. After all, you are a expert at what you do, not book marketing and promotion.
Instead of struggling, you could just hire a firm like BestSellerAuthors.com to sell your book.. but you really need to plan on marketing being an ongoing project. Promoting you and your book can pay off very well.
So here’s my number one trip to avoid the struggle. —> Just find our what works and copy it.
Daniel Grissom, who is the secret sales weapon behind Billion Dollar companies like Google, Hewlett Packard, UPS, NASDAQ, and Eli Lilly has a new book out:
Step Up! How To WIN MORE And Lose Less in Business.
You can read his book to find out how he wins.
But more important for authors.. you will want to take a look at the promotion for his book.
Dan put together a team of the best to help him launch, with winning strategies.
Take a look now while you can still get all the special gifts (you will want to look at these too.. to learn from these great marketers)
Leave a comment here and tell us what you think of the promotion, what new ideas you got, and get a bit of self promotion while you are at it.

Bulk sales is not for everyone, but when it kicks in, there are so many benefits.
We’ll be posting an article on buld sales soon.. watch the blog

I wonder if the “buy the book, get these bonuses” strategy is being used wisely. According to my calculations, the bonuses add up to a value of $3217.85 (I think that’s right but my calculator was starting to overheat).
Two problems with this. The bonuses were all over the place in terms of topics—it felt like the kitchen-sink approach. Second, do I really believe that someone out there has paid $695 or $497 for the exact same product I am now getting free for buying a $16.95 book? Uh…nope. Frankly it turns me off to the whole proposition and to the author, and that isn’t good.

There’s only one sure way to know how “wise” a book promotion plan is.
Test it.
Set up two promotional web pages. One with these types of gifts, one with an offer of the book alone (or anything else you want to try)
Have your web master install a script that alternates which page shows and then buy some ads and get people to visit the site.
When you find one that converts better, please let me know. I’d like to interview you, and help other authors learn from your wisdom.
In the mean time, did you see anything on that promotion that could help us all do a better job of marketing our books?
We find that most people are smart enough to figure out that the dollar values listed are not commodity prices.. and they won’t be able to trade in all the gifts for money.
However, if just one of the gifts appeals to a reader, and he sees how that one gift can get results worth the price (or even 100x the price) he is likely to grab the book and download only the bonus desired.
Are they worth the values stated? Well, the information in the course I’m giving away has been sold to a private client for as much as $18,000.00. I don’t fly out and sit with you when it’s a digital gift version, but you could do quite well with the advice.
But the real reason the promotion is posted on THIS blog is to help authors learn so they can promote their own books.
Those “all over the place gifts” are from authors who promote this way. And the author and promoter who put that package together invested a lot of time and money to get it to work… so my suggestion was look and learn.
Given all that. Your points are valid. There are some things that could be done better. I’ll talk about them in a future post.
Thanks for your comment

Hey Warren,
This book launch fires on all cylinders.
It has included all of the usuals, his picture along with the picture of the book and the benefits from the content in the book.
As well, he has testimonials, a.k.a. social proof that the book is worth the investment.
The bonus gifts are almost expected now when it comes to a best-seller launch.
There is a good list of bonuses and contributors. So far everything you see in a regular best-seller launch.
This coupled with the correct launch day lead-up and email blasts is enough to guarantee an Amazon best-seller.
But this one goes well beyond that by including Dan’s own material and services as bonuses for bulk purchases.
By stating the gifts for bulk copies it has planted the idea in the minds of some that would have never dreamed of buying more than one copy.
Now the promotion doesn’t stop at just a few extra copies, no no it takes it all the way to 100 copies.
In any book launch there are people that will buy a book not just because they want it but because they want the bonus gifts.
In this case there will actually be some people that buy over 100 books and probably give them away as gifts to their sales teams or clients, just because they want the extensive list of free gifts that Dan is giving them. (This by the way is a form of endorsement which gives even more credibility to Dan) These people would not have other wise bought more than just one copy but because the offer has been made and it is so enticing there will surely be many, many people that are converted to bulk buyers.
It is this extra incentive (and by the way these services are Dan’s so he is not actually out of pocket much to provide them)that will not only guarantee that the book becomes a best-seller but that it will be on multiple best-seller lists simultaneously.
Now with that all being said, the real value will be in the list that is created by this launch. Dan can now continue to follow-up with these buyers to market his back-end services. This is truly the beauty of this whole promotion.
Overall this should prove to be a fantastic launch.
To your success,
Dave
PS ~ I don’t know if this provides any useful information but it does provide perspective on the power of this promotion.

Good points. The promo is not the whole marketing process.. but gets attention.

Very well done campaign, Warren! I think there are different schools of thoughts about the whole book launch/bonus campaign concept. I’m a raving fan myself but, bottom line, you can’t please all the people all the time, right? You just gotta keep doing what works.
Someone recently told me he purchased a book just to get the bonus package as he saw so much value. That was heartening to hear. As David Mason says, these extra goodies are almost expected now.
As you know, I’m currently working on a similar campaign for Mike Jay.

From behind the scenes, I’m really seeing what a win:win:win for everyone. We just never know the ripple effect, eh!

Thank you very much for the excellent post. I have been considering writing a book about Internet Marketing for some time now and I will surely take your secrets and advice plus my marketing knowedge to sell books online. Having a best selling book would bring in a ton of money plus a flood of new clients to my Los Angeles based Internet Marketing firm.
